Conferences

The Berkeley Lab Academy, in partnership with the Berkeley Center for Cosmological Physics (BCCP) is planning international conferences to identify exemplary science and engineering education programs, resources, and leaders. This effort includes promoting partnerships for the teaching and learning of the origin, structure, and evolution of the universe in modern science.  The first of these conferences is planned for May 2008 in Einhoven, Nederland (from the BCCP website).

Courses

Berkeley Lab Academy for Science Teaching and Learning, will offer courses for teachers and their students that tap the resources of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in three key world leadership areas:

  • Our Place in the Universe
  • Our Place on Planet Earth
  • Sustainable Energy and Environmental Resources

The first of  these three course offerings is being developed in partnership with the Berkeley Center for Cosmological Physics as part of our plan to create and support a Global Cosmology Education Academy. This academy will engage teachers and students of all ages around the world in science and engineering education programs and activities. It will encourage them to discover their place in the universe through the discoveries of modern science.  They will develop an understanding of the origin, structure, and evolution of the universe, and share their knowledge with other students and the public.
