Postdoctoral Fellowship Opportunity

Berkeley Center for Cosmological Physics

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

The Berkeley Center for Cosmological Physics, a joint venture of the University of California at Berkeley and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and under the direction of Professor George Smoot, invites applications for one or more Postdoctoral Fellows to begin in the Fall of 2011.

Candidates should apply at the LBNL posting:

http://careers.crijob.com/lbnlcareers/detailsRedirect.asp?jid=24965&p=1

Several positions may be available at LBNL, including the Berkeley Center for Cosmological Physics Fellowship, the joint Berkeley-Zurich Fellowship and LBNL postdoctoral position in Theoretical Cosmology.

The fellowships will be awarded initially for 2 years with the possibility of extension, depending on the specific position. Candidates interested in the joint Berkeley-Zurich position should so indicate.

LBNL and UC Berkeley participate in several astrophysical/cosmological observational programs, including SDSS-III (BOSS), BigBOSS, DES, Planck, Supernova Cosmology project and JDEM/WFIRST. The rich cosmology program in Berkeley includes the Berkeley cosmology group (http://cosmology.lbl.gov) and the Berkeley Center for Cosmological Physics (http://bccp.lbl.gov). We encourage applicants in all areas of cosmology theory, simulations, and observations. Particular attention will be given to researchers investigating astrophysical probes of fundamental physics.

Applications received by December 15, 2010, will receive full consideration for positions starting in the Fall of 2011

Informal inquiries and requests for additional information may also be made to Prof. Uros Seljak at seljak@physik.uzh.ch or USeljak@lbl.gov.
