Conference Mission Statement

Twentieth century discoveries in cosmology have transformed our ability to study the structure, history, and fate of the universe as a quantitative science.  These advances help define our relationship to the natural world shared with all humanity, and we are committed to promoting scientific understanding of the universe through education and outreach.

This conference is designed to look at science education in and through cosmology education for 9 to 15 year old students around the world.

  • Identify ways in which science, engineering, and technology curriculum and instruction is enhanced by the knowledge students gain through learning about the evolution of the universe.
  • Identify the foundational concepts and principles of science and technology that a 15 year old student must know to communicate the minimum straightforward standard model of cosmology (the big bang model). Students will also be able to discuss evidence for this model.
  • Identify and share knowledge of existing and planned cosmology educational standards, lessons, instructional materials, and projects for students 9 to 15 years of age.

Conference Design

Invitation to scientists and educators around the world who have included a modern view of the history and fate of the universe in their program.
